Buddhism and the Twelve Steps by Kevin Griffin

Buddhism & The Twelve Steps is a workbook for people in recovery from addiction of any kind. The book is based on the 12 Steps, intertwining recovery ideas with the Buddhist teachings. Mindfulness is the fundamental tool offered for practice and is presented in the larger context of Buddhist teachings that include the elements of morality and wisdom. The material is practically oriented, and the voice is a personal. Buddhist teachings are presented in down-to-earth terms that make them accessible to the non-Buddhist reader.

Kevin Griffin is the author of One Breath at a Time: Buddhism and the Twelve Steps, a seminal work that catapulted him to the forefront of the mindful recovery movement. Kevin has traveled extensively since the book's release, offering workshops and lectures in locales as different as Harlem, the Colorado Rockies, and Hawaii. He teaches Dharma and Rehabilitation at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in the San Francisco Bay Area. Kevin is also a co-founder and board member of the Buddhist Recovery Network (www.buddhistrecovery.org), an international organization that provides training, therapy, and research to persons in recovery. He continues to travel the country doing courses, talks, and retreats.
