He is a trained teacher in the Sanbo Kyodan lineage of Japanese Buddhism and was the Besl Professor of Ethics/Religion and Society at Xavier University in Cincinnati. He is also a member of the Buddhist Global Relief, Clear Vision Project, Zen Peacemakers, and Ernest Becker Foundation advisory boards. He resides in Boulder, Colorado.
