David E. Gould began his training in Shotokan Karate in 1977, receiving his black belt in 1982. Since 1983 he has trained in numerous Filipino, Indonesian and Thai warrior arts, in the United States and in their respective countries of origin, but he is best known for his association with the Lameco Eskrima system and its founder, Punong Guro Edgar G. Sulite.

From 1992, Gould trained under Punong Guro Sulite several times a week as a private student and as part of the Sulite Orehenal Group, until Punong Guro was felled by a stroke while training in the Philippines in 1997. Since then Gould has taught hundreds of Lameco Eskrima seminars, workshops and training camps around the world. He also trains select elite military and law enforcement personnel in several countries around the world.
