Castaway by Caroline Pitcher

What started off as a dare becomes something far more dangerous, when six children on a geography trip find themselves cut off by the sea. Not only that, but it's the dead of night and Skull Island is rumoured to be haunted. One of the boys is injured and it transpires that another can't swim. Soon, getting back before the teachers find out they're gone is the least of their worries.
Award-winning author Caroline Pitcher has had a varied career, working at a fish factory and an art gallery, then as a primary school teacher in east London. In 1987 she won the Kathleen Fidler Award for Diamond, and her picture book Snow Whale was shortlisted for the Children's Book Award in 1997. Her Year of Changes fantasy quartet for Egmont has also met with great acclaim.
