The Chancellors by Edmund Dell

The Chancellor of the Exchequer has since the war been arbiter of the economic fate of the nation - yet often, the choices open to the Chancellor have been severely limited. This book takes a look at the role of the chancellor and the opportunities it offers.

Edmund Dell read history at Oxford and became Lecturer in Modern History at The Queen's College, Oxford. Between 1964 and 1979 he was a Member of Parliament, his appointments included the Chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee, Paymaster-General and President of the Board of Trade. He is the founder Chairman of Channel Four Television and an Honorary Fellow of Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge.
