Child Abuse and Neglect: Culture, Research, and Theory explores the complex issue of child maltreatment through diverse lenses, addressing cultural nuances, research methodologies, and theoretical frameworks. The book integrates global perspectives on the rights of the child with rigorous research standards and theoretical analysis to offer a multifaceted examination of this critical issue. The text explores maltreatment definitions, child rights, historical perspectives, and factors influencing development in the context of abuse. It details family diversity and parenting challenges, various forms of neglect and abuse (physical, sexual, psychological), and legal aspects of child welfare, as well as systemic issues around child protection including reporting, investigation, and decision-making. Child Abuse and Neglect is ideal for courses in child welfare, psychology, and social work.
