Chingford: Pocket Images by Stephen Pewsey

With photographs and images, this book shows developmants in Chingford, a village on the edge of Epping Forest until the railway arrived in 1873 and a little later, in 1882, the Forest was declared open to the public, and after this Londoners began to visit the area as day-trippers, and Chingford and the Forest became an inland tourist resort.
Stephen Pewsey is a heritage consultant and prolific author of local history titles. He worked at the British Museum for a number of years. Well travelled, he is nonetheless happiest when wayfaring in Essex byways or browsing in secondhand bookshops to add to his extensive collection of books about Essex.
