David Antram was born in Brighton, England. He studied at Eastbourne College of Art and then worked in advertising for 15 years before becoming a full-time artist. John James was born in London and studied at the Eastbourne College of Art. He has specialized in illustrating historical subjects since leaving art school in 1982.
