Sein besonderes fotografisches Anliegen ist es, die Pflanzen in ihrem naturlichen Lebensraum zu ebenso informativer wie asthetischer Wirkung zu bringen. Alle Farbbilder und die Fachtexte dieses Buches stammen von ihm. Richard Keller, 1923 in Augsburg geboren, ist Autor, Mitautor und Illustrator von Veroffentlichungen und Buchern in Technik, Architektur, Gartenbau, Medizin und Biologie. Durch seine lebendigen und prazisen Pflanzen- und Tierzeichnungen, durch seine morphologischen Arbeiten und die charakteristische Art seiner Lebensraumdarstellungen ist er weit bekannt. Dieses Buch hat er mitkonzipiert, gestaltet und alle Zeichnungen und Grafiken erstellt.
