The Complete Idiot's Guide to Clear Communication by Kris Cole
A book of poetry and prose, for anyone who has battled and been delivered from addiction and the effects of trauma. Chronicled in poetry for the everyday person, it illustrates some of my internal journey over the past twenty years. I had an extreme spiritual experience in the summer of 1996, that led me to getting sober, and going through 20 years of internal suffering from Scrupulosity. It wasn't until I found a place to talk about these things openly, did I begin to heal and transform. I have so many to thank for my recovery. I won't do the thanking here. The goal of publishing this book - of my very personal unawakened suffering.- is to attempt to illustrate what it was like for me as a traumatized person. I hope the world listens and is interested to hear. I hope to use the proceeds from this book, to make a permanent safe home for me and my son, and my friend Joanie, who has cared for us like her own for so long. And anything over that will be used to help others, and live a little. I am currently working as a Certified Peer Specialist on a Mental Health Outreach Team in Western Massachusetts. Being in this job has revolutionized the way I view myself, my limits, and my hope for the future. Because of my job, I get to be part of the conversation about what is going on in mental health treatment. A national discussion is happening and is sorely needed. I am grateful to all my mentors in this field, and the amazing team I am apart of. It took someone believing in me and giving me a chance, to put my poetry together and dare to publish.
