The Complete Plays by Joe Orton

The Complete Plays by Joe Orton

This volume contains every play written by Joe Orton, who emerged in the 1960s as the most talented comic playwright in recent English history and was considered the direct successor to Wilde, Shaw, and Coward.

Joe Orton was born in the city of Leicester in the year 1933. In 1951, he enrolled at RADA, where he met his mentor and lover Kenneth Halliwell. They worked on novels while living on the dole (and briefly in prison for defacing library books), however Orton's solowriting garnered him more acclaim. His openly gay lifestyle has made him a cultural legend. In 1967, Halliwell assassinated him.
