Contemporary Weaving Patterns by Margo Selby
A wonderful guide and learning manual for mixing colours and yarn types to add rich colour and texture to your work. Many of the techniques can be used on a simple four- or eight-shaft loom, but the book also contains complex ideas for advanced weavers. The book includes simple set-up instructions to get looms up and running. It is then packed with hundreds of weave ideas - each one illustrated with swatches of the finished textiles, setup diagrams, and lifting patterns. Fabric samples are shown close up so that you can really see the detail.
A lovely book for fans of Margo Selby and for lovers of weaving everywhereExcellent production, design and photos. * Yarns and Fabrics (http://yarnsandfabrics.co.uk/crafts/) *
The layouts were excellent, showing yarns used with photographs of the fabric before and after finishing were excellent. Reverse views of the woven cloth were also informative ... I encourage weavers to buy and study this book which has a mass of information that will encourage them to experiment. * Journal of Weavers, Spinners & Dyers *
Well thought out book ... I'm sure it will be welcomed and enjoyed by the textiles community. * Craftsman Craft & Design *
There's plenty here to work from and with, and the whole thing looks well thought-out and presented. * Art Book Review *
Margo Selby aims to encourage her readers to explore unconventional methods and conduct their own experiments based on her woven patterns. She has chosen her examples well; inspired by nature, architecture or everyday life, she has captured them in her notebook or on her camera. * Textile Forum *

Keen to promote traditional craft, Margo Selby took part in Mastercrafts, the BBC series presented by Monty Don and originally aired in 2010 on BBC2 in the UK. In the programme, Margo taught three craft enthusiasts to weave and then offered one an apprenticeship.
