Émile Borel (1871-1956) produced contributions to mathematics that are credited with ushering in our current era of probabilistic, quantitative decision making, which is so adaptable to computers and hence so widespread. Between 1905 and 1950, he wrote over fifty studies on probability. Between 1921 and 1927, he published articles on game theory and was the first to define strategy games, releasing a number of papers before publishing Applications aux jeux de danger in 1938, which included this book.
