Des Kennedy is a journalist, broadcaster, author, and environmental campaigner who has won numerous awards. He is the author of four collections of essays, one of which is a memoir called The Passionate Gardener, as well as three novels, one of which is Climbing Patrick's Mountain. Kennedy is regarded as one of the most prominent figures in Canadian gardening, writing a regular piece for BCLiving magazine and serving as a columnist for the Globe and Mail. He resides on Denman Island, British Columbia.
