The Cuckoo's Child by Marjorie Eccles

Wainthorpe, in the year 1909, is a small town in the West Riding of Yorkshire, where the thriving Cross Ings wool mill is one of the most prosperous. Its respected owner is Ainsley Beaumont, whose family wealth derives from centuries in the woollen trade. Detective Inspector Charlie Womersley is convinced that the investigation of a body found floating in the mill dam will soon be over. But it soon becomes apparent that this is far from the case. At Farr Clough House, where the Beaumont family live, there are secrets which more than one person is determined to keep. Meanwhile, down in Wainthorpe, other people are also keeping their lips sealed, as Womersley discovers in his search for the truth.

Marjorie Eccles was born in Yorkshire and has lived on the Northumbrian shore since then. Marjorie has primarily written criminal novels, but she has also dabbled in romance. She is the author of the mystery series Gill Mayo.
