Cultures in Conflict by Bernard Lewis

This text elaborates on the Merle Curtis Lectures which Professor Lewis delivered at the University of Wisconsin in May 1993. It deals with three major events, all in 1492, all in Spain: the fall of Granada; the final victory in the Christian re-conquest of Spain and the subsequent expulsion of the Jews, to be followed some years later by that of the Muslims; and the discovery of America. The purpose of this book is to show the intimate connection between these three events, all of which are part of the same historical process.
