Martin Suter was born in Zurich in 1948 and now resides in Spain and Guatemala with his wife. He has worked as an advertising copywriter and has produced pieces for GEO magazine, screenplays for films and television, and a weekly column for the Weltwoche daily called 'Business Class.' He has five novels to his credit. Harvill published Little World in 2001, and A Bargain with the Devil was a No. 1 bestseller. 1 best-seller in Switzerland and winner of the Friedrich-Glauser Award for the best new crime fiction in 2007.
