Decision Support Systems by Douglas Schwartz
This book presents the state-of-the-art information on decision support systems (DS). Over the last forty years, DS have developed from theoretical concepts into the real world computerized applications and they motivate cognitive decision-making functions of humans based on artificial intelligence techniques for the purpose of performing decision support functions. DS consists of three primary components: user interface, computerized model and knowledge base. The applications of DS encompass several domains, ranging athwart transportation security, weather forecast, aviation checking, clinical diagnosis and business management to internet search techniques, therefore through the integration of knowledge bases with inference rules DS are able to present suggestions to end users to enhance results and decisions. This book will serve as a useful resource for both graduate and undergraduate students engaged in computer-related fields as well as for the established professionals as a source of reference.
