Deer Watch by Richard Prior
We like to think ourselves as a nation of animal lovers, yet how many people can name the 6 species of deer that live in the wild in Britain? Acting as a guide to anyone exploring the countryside, this book provides factual information on one of our most interesting animals, and also helps the nature lover to see the deer which often go unnoticed.
Richard Prior is regarded as an international authority on deer. For sixteen years he worked for the Forestry Commission during the final part of which he was Conservancy Wildlife consultant. He spent five years with the Game Conservancy as Information Officer and Deer consultant. He is a Chartered Biologist and a Fellow of the British Deer Society and Patron of the Association of Professional Deer Managers. He is regular contributor to the Shooting Times. His interest in roe deer has taken him to nearly every country where they exist, from Portugal to Siberia. He is retired and lives in Dorset.
