"Directions in Art" explores the work of contemporary artists in their areas of speciality. Each book examines the different techniques and effects used by the artists, as well as the source of their inspiration, their influence and choice of subject matter. Each book covers a mix of well-known and lesser-known British and international artists. There is analysis of a key or representative work of art for each artist, offering an understanding of their style and direction. Technique boxes explain the basics of key techniques, case studies and quotes from artist.
Jillian Powell started writing when she was very young. She loved having a giant pad of paper and some pens or crayons in front of her. She made up newspaper stories about jewel thieves and spies. Jillian's parents still have her early stories, complete with crayon illustrations!
