This work is a guide to the life, thought and activities of Nicholas of Cusa (1401-1464), the great fifteenth-century philosopher, theologian, jurist, author of mystical and ecclesiastical treatises, cardinal and reformer. It is intended not only for advanced scholars, but also for beginners and those simply curious about a man who has been called 'one of the greatest Germans of the fifteenth century' and a 'medieval thinker for the modern age'. The book provides a series of detailed but readable essays on ideas, persons, and places, a work developed over the course of nearly three decades. First, it contains articles on the important events and concepts that affected Cusanus--philosophical, religious, intellectual and political. Then it turns to his precursors and contemporaries, both friendly and critical. These include philosophers, theologians, politicians, and canon lawyers. And third, the book follows the footsteps of the man from Kues and examines various sites where he lived, studied, or visited. Because the author has also visited many of these sites, he can contribute personal observations to enliven the journey. To add to the book's usefulness as a resource and reference tool, each entry is followed by a bibliography containing both recent and older works. The purpose of the volume is to gain a greater appreciation of Cusanus and his legacy by striving for a total view of his thought and experience instead of narrowly focusing on specific philosophical, theological or intellectual ideas, or certain periods of his activities in isolation from other facets of this compelling figure.Sweeney is a Canadian comic artist and illustrator based in Montreal. She grew up in the southwest of France, studying graphic design and listening to extremely loud rock music. After graduating, she began working as a comic letterer and colorist for French publishers while following her dream of becoming a comic artist. She decided to relocate to Montreal, Canada, in 2015. She started working as a 2D Artist for a mobile gaming firm just a year after making the huge move across the ocean.
She never forgot about her genuine dream, therefore she continued to draw comics at night and on weekends. During the summer of 2016, she made her comic debut with a cover and a short tale for Image Comics' Rat Queens. Subsequently, in December 2016, she started a Kickstarter campaign for her first graphic novel, Eat, and Love Yourself, a 150-page novella about eating disorders, depression, body dysmorphia, and, eventually, self-love, a topic that she finds extremely essential. Boom! was able to fund and publish the book.
She had the opportunity to work on the costume designs for America Chavez, Inferno, and Patriot for Marvel Rising in 2017, merging two of her passions: fashion and superheroes. Sweeney now works as a full-time freelance artist, sketching all day, binge-watching Game of Thrones, and eating a lot of good cheese. All the while, she's accompanied by Loki, her kitty helper who does nothing but sit around and be a fluff. Sweeney like painting edgy fashion ladies, particularly witches.
She now works for a variety of publications, including Boom!
