The American Folk Art Museum and the Smithsonian American Art Museum both have his work in their collections. In St. Louis, he lived with his wife, Gwen, and their four dogs. His Dog Chapel is located near Dog Mountain in Johnsbury, Vermont. Huneck was inspired to write these stories by his own dog, Sally. Huneck passed away in 2010.
