Don't Call Me Choochie Pooh! by Kate Hindley

What’s an adorably small canine with a big personality to do? From Sean Taylor, the author of Hoot Owl, Master of Disguise, and Kate Hindley, illustrator of Worst in Show, comes a hilarious new picture book comedy starring a very small fed-up dog... This dog doesn't want to be carried in a handbag (how embarrassing!) or eat heart-shaped Mini Puppy Treats (I mean, come ON!) and under no circumstances does he ever want to be called ... Choochie Pooh! If only his owner understood. All he wants to do is play with the big dogs in the park – chase sticks, jump in muddy puddles and be an ordinary, proper dog.
Quirky, amusing and originalWe have read this countless times already Review Reader, Lovereading 4 Kids Those I've shared this [book] with delighted in Sean Taylor's narrator and fully endorsed his sentiments over his owner's humiliating behaviour. Kate Hindley gives the whole canine crew real personalities in her hilarious portrayals and I love the way she shows everything from their ground-level perspective. Red Reading Hub Easy-on-the-ear writing and amusing situations all show a doggie's point of view with clear understanding and clever humour while wittily stylized illustrations show plenty of girlie patterns in pretty colours contrasted with earthy coloured splashes in the doggy scenes of mayhem. For any child who's ever been embarrassed by an infantilizing, over demonstrative parent, this is the book. Books for Keeps the misdemeanors presented in this delightful story will have you laughing out loud and paying much attention from now on to the way in which you treat your pets! A delightful story with vibrant illustration that captures the essence of the words brilliantly and will have children as well as their grown-ups laughing out loud at the silliness of it all.
