Egon Schiele (1890-1918), together with Klimt, is seen as the most important Austrian artist of his time - but who was he and why does his art compel our attention as it does? This study attempts to find the "real" Schiele, examining his life and work through his major oils and erotic drawings.
Der Autor: Peter Kauder studierte Philosophie, Padagogik und Literaturwissenschaft in Duisburg, Munchen und Wuppertal. Er war wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an der Universitat Duisburg (1990-93), vertrat dort anschliessend eine Ratsstelle fur Allgemeine/Historische Padagogik und ist seit 1995 Lehrbeauftragter an mehreren Universitaten. - Zahlreiche Veroffentlichungen in Fachzeitschriften (seit 1986); Mitglied der Forschungsgruppe -Didaktik der Philosophie- (seit 1986); ausgezeichnet fur besonders engagierte Lehre (1995).
