The Embarrassed Believer by Hugh Hewitt

These are the memoirs of an American writer who has spent almost fifty years in the village of Deya on the island of Mallorca in Spain. Deya has long been referred to as an Artist Colony. Many of the artists settled in this village after W I, after studying art in Europe. At first they settled in Paris, and then later moved to Spain because it was less expensive. This group of American Artists is now a story of the past, since most of them have passed away. They were a young and lusty gruop. Many stories remain about them. They have been compared to the artists of La Boheme in the Paris of the turn of the century (1900).
