En su honor, desde 1956 se concede, cada dos anos, el premio Hans Christian Andersen de literatura infantil y, desde 1966, tambien el de ilustracion. / Throughout his life, Hans Christian Andersen made many trips and even wrote about them, but it's thanks to his more than 150 children's stories that he has been recognized as one of the greats of world literature. His most famous tales include: The Ugly Duckling, The Emperor's New Clothes, The Snow Queen, The Red Shoes, The Steadfast Tin Soldier, The Nightingale, The Brave Little Tailor and Little Mermaid. They have been translated into more than 80 languages and adapted to plays, ballets, films, cartoons, video games and works of sculpture and painting. In his honor, since 1956, every two years, the Hans Christian Andersen Award for children's literature is awarded and since 1966, also the award on illustration.
