He is a Fellow of the Museums Association, a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries and a Fellow of the Association of European Open Air Museums. He retains a deep affinity for where he grew up in Merseyside and is now moving back to the area. As the final sentence of this book reads, 'I never really escaped'.
