Whitecap Books was founded in 1977 and has since evolved to become one of Canada's top 10 book publishing and distribution firms. Whitecap developed a name for itself as Canada's leading creator of full-color gift and coffee table books on Canadian provinces, cities, and natural marvels in the 1970s and early 1980s. The firm is still publishing in this area, with a 27-book Canada series and 36 books in the America Series. More than 300 Canadian-originated titles and more than 1,000 agency-listed titles are currently on Whitecap's list. Whitecap is well-known for its knowledge of the cookbook industry.
