Ethics and Epidemiology by Steven S Coughlin
Now updated with timely global examples, Ethics and Epidemiology, Third Edition provides an in-depth account to the theoretical and practical moral problems confronting public health students and professionals and offers guidance for how justified moral conclusions can be reached.
Epidemiology is a quantitative scienceIn Coughlin and Dawson's Ethics and Epidemiology, we are reminded that each number has a history and meaning, and that epidemiology must work in the service of justice. * James Thomas, UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health *
Ethics and Epidemiology, Third Edition rightly eschews the belief that quantitative measurement circumvents debates over values by demonstrating that ethical issues are both present in epidemiological investigation and amenable to resolution. Readers will benefit from this interconnected analysis of science and values and learn strategies for addressing current complex global issues. * Maya J. Goldenberg, University of Guelph *
