John O'Sullivan studied Electrical Engineering at University College Cork and received his BE, BSc(Hons), Dip PM, CEng MIEI, PMP, FSP, CMSE(R). He has more than 20 years of expertise in the automation and control industry, bringing solutions to Ireland's life-science industry. He is a certified Functional Safety Professional, a Chartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland, and a Project Management Professional with the Project Management Institute. He has always been fascinated by aviation and space, which led him to obtain his PPL in 2003 and enroll at the Open University to study Astronomy and Planetary Science. In addition to getting a Certificate in Project Management from the Cork College of Technology in 2016, he received a Degree in Astrophysics and Planetary Science from the OU in 2017. His previous book, In the Footsteps of Columbus, European Expeditions to the International Space Station, was released in 2016.

He's also had essays published in the BIS Spaceflight magazine and the Engineers publication in Ireland. He and his wife and daughter live in East Cork.
