John Cross has been a lifelong Gurkha officer and lives in Pokhara, Nepal. He is the author of Gurkhas at War (Greenhill Books), Jungle Warfare (Pen & Sword Books), and A Face Like a Chicken's Backside (The History Press). (Early in his career a Malayan aborigine said, John Cross is a good man, although he has a face like a chicken's backside.)
