FALLEN STARS by Brian Bond
A team of military historians examines 11 20th-century land commanders who were held responsible for disasters or whose highly successful careers ended in sudden dismissal or fall from favour. Each reappraisal aims to place the fateful event in its full operational and political contexts, and to reach a verdict on the reasons for dismissal and whether or not it was justified.
