Joanne Ramos was born in the Philippines and immigrated to the United States when she was six years old. She earned a bachelor's degree in arts. Princeton University is a private research university. She became a staff writer at The Economist after working in investment banking and private equity investing. She is a member of The Moth's board of directors and resides in New York City with her family.
