Fates Worse Than Death by Kurt Vonnegut
The American novelist Kurt Vonnegut's second volume of autobiographical writings. They form a memoir of ideas, anecdote and opinion covering such diverse subjects as death in the family, suicidal depression, the future of the planet, Ronald Reagan, Salman Rushdie and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Kurt Vonnegut was born in Indianapolis in 1922 and studied biochemistry at Cornell University. During WWII, as a prisoner of war in Germany, he witnessed the destruction of Dresden by Allied bombers, an experience which inspired Slaughterhouse Five. He died in 2007.
