The Fell Pony by Clive Richardson
Examines the history of the breed from Roman times when the stamp of the pony originated. This title looks at the varied and hanging uses of the Fell over the centuries, as well as how the breed survived the increasing mechanization of the twentieth century to take its place in the modern world as an all-round ride-and-drive pony.
Clive Richardson was honorary secretary/treasurer of the Fell Pony Society for nearly ten years. As a successful exhibitor of Fell ponies, he won innumerable championships at national level before retiring from showing to concentrate on judging and writing. As well as writing two previous books on the breed, he has produced a compilation of Fell pony bloodline from 1898 to 1980 inclusive. He has judged Fell ponies extensively in this country as well as in America, Holland and Germany. Clive Richardson is also the author of The Horse Breakers.
