Take That has won eight BRIT awards, sold over 45 million records, and sold over eight million concert tickets since their inception in 1989. Gary is one of Britain's most successful composers, having penned 15 No. 1 hits and winning the Ivor Novello Award six times. He has also co-written and produced music for other well-known singers such as Dame Shirley Bassey, Sir Elton John, and Robbie Williams, in addition to his work with Take That. During the course of his career, Gary has released three solo albums, the most recent of which, 'Since I See You Last,' (his first solo record in over 14 years), became the ninth best-selling album in the UK, with over 600,000 copies sold.
Gary cemented his place in the UK television scene in 2011 when he agreed to be the Head Judge on The X Factor. He was in this post for three years. After that, he made two documentaries: 'Trip To Afghanistan' and 'In Her Majesty's Service.' In 2016/17, he created, produced, and acted in his own BBC talent show, 'Let It Shine,' in which he searched for a boy band to appear in a new musical.
Gary has recently shifted his focus to the realm of theater, creating the score for the highly successful Finding Neverland and co-writing the music and lyrics for the musical 'The Girls' with author Tim Firth. In recent years, Gary has worked closely with a variety of organizations and major events, including organizing and playing at BBC Children In Need Rocks twice. In 2012, he also arranged the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations in front of the palace.
