Fire Engine No. 9 by Mike Austin
This high-action (yet toddler-friendly) beat-by-beat look at an emergency response is now available as a board book Told almost entirely in sound words, this day-in-the-life look at a fire engine crew will appeal to the youngest vehicle enthusiasts and to parents with a penchant for exuberant read-aloud sessions. With art reminiscent of that in Donald Crews's transportation books, Mike Austin evokes the excitement of a 911 call as we follow firefighters down the fire pole, through town, and up the ladder truck.Mike Austin is a well-known tattoo artist and illustrator with over twenty-five years of experience. Mike was originally introduced to the pantheon of Inuit mythology through Farley Mowat's work, and he has been enthralled by Northern mythology ever since. Mike uses his graphics, both on paper and on skin, to communicate visual stories. His work has appeared in a number of books about Inuit mythology, and he has competed in international tattoo competitions on behalf of Canada. Mike is a resident of London, Ontario, where he works.
