The Fleet Collection by Percy Vickery
This title combines the first two volumes of Percy Vickery's "Fleet in Old Photographs" to provide an extensive record of life in and around Fleet over the 20th century and beyond. Over 400 photographs are featured, telling the story of the town in years gone by. "The Fleet Collection" covers many aspects of the town, including shops, leisure, sport, industry, education, pubs, street scenes and transport. The book should be of great interest to all those who know and love this Hampshire town.
Percy Vickery worked for forty years as an agricultural engineering firm as a draughtsman and later in engineering records until his redundancy. He was editor of the Hampshire Bulletin for 14 years, which fuelled his interest in local history. He began collecting local postcards in the 1970's, and many of his postcards appear in this book.
