Michelle Mercer is a New York Times bestselling author and a National Public Radio music analyst. Michelle is the author of Footprints: Wayne Shorter's Life and Career (Penguin) and Will You Take Me As I Am: Joni Mitchell's Blue Period (Simon & Schuster), as well as a ghostwriter for other books. She's the first female Hot Box critic for DownBeat, and her work has appeared in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Village Voice, among other publications. Michelle has received scholarships and residencies from all around the world, and she has presented and reported on art, music, and culture in more than 20 countries.
