Gillian Tindall is well known for the quality of her writing and the meticulous nature of her research. She lives in London, in Kentish Town, the subject of her book The Fields Beneath: The History of One London Village. Among her well-loved books about France are Celestine: Voices from a French Village and The Journey of Martin Nadaud. Her most recent history is the much-praised The House by the Thames.
