Leon Walras (1834-1910) was one of the key thinkers behind the development of marginal utility theory and his introduction of general equilibrium theory is one of the cornerstones of modern economic thought. Amos Elon is the author of eight critically acclaimed books, including Founder: A Portrait of the First Rothschild and Israelis: Founders and Sons, which was a New York Times bestseller. He wrote for The New York Times Magazine and The New York Review of Books on a regular basis. In 2009, he passed away.
