Fiona Valpy lived in France for seven years after moving there from the United Kingdom in 2007. She and her family refurbished an old, rambling farmhouse in the Bordeaux winelands, and she learned new skills in cement mixing, interior decorating, and wine tasting during the process. All of these sources of inspiration, as well as a passion for the region, its people, and its history, have made their way into her books, which have been translated into German, Norwegian, Czech, and Turkish. Fiona now resides in Scotland, although she travels to France on a regular basis in quest of the sun.
