From Ocean Liner to Cruise Ship by Harley Crossley

Harley Crossley paints for the major shipping lines, with his work adorning many cruise ships. His artwork is the signature painting of Queen Victoria, the new Cunarder, due December 2010. Author available for signings and demonstrations. Harley Crossley is one of Britain's foremost marine artists and his work hangs aboard many prestigious cruise ships as well as in many shipping line boardrooms. In this, his first book, he demonstrates his style of painting and takes the reader on a journey through the decades as he illustrates the finest ocean liners and cruise ships in his unique style. From 1890s Atlantic liners to modern-day cruise ships, he covers the entire world of passenger shipping. Accompanying the paintings is an informative text telling the history of each vessel and how Harley came to paint it. Harley was commissioned to paint the signature picture of Queen Victoria, by Cunard, and this will be used in advertising for the ship all over the world.
Harley Crossley AMSOA was a professional artist for over thirty years. He was the acknowledged expert in Britain in the technique of painting in oils using knives. An artist member of the Fine Art Trade Guild, he died in 2013.
