Teens are more aware of sexuality and identity than ever, and they're looking for answers and insights, as well as a community of others. I was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and grew up in Jacksonville, Florida. He is a poet and prose writer who co-wrote the New York Times bestseller Spirit Animal series and has poems in various collections. Chatting in the Dark, Vanilla, the Infinity Ring Secrets series, and The Whole Spectrum, which he coedited with David Levithan and won the Lambda Literary Award, are among his other works. Merrell and his husband, Nico Medina, currently reside in Brooklyn, New York.
