Dr. Anbar is a Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine and Director of the Pediatric Pulmonary and Cystic Fibrosis Center at the SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, N.Y. He has been certified as an Approved Consultant in hypnosis by the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH). He is a Past President of ASCH, and is a member of the ASCH Scientific Task Force. His research interests include new therapies for cystic fibrosis, asthma epidemiology and hypnotherapy to treat respiratory disease. He has participated in more than 60 investigator initiated and multi-center research trials involving children with cystic fibrosis and other pulmonary disease. He has published over 50 articles, abstracts, editorials and book chapters relating to pediatric hypnosis, and was editor of the 2012 book, Functional Respiratory Disorders: When Respiratory Symptoms do not Respond to Pulmonary Treatment.
