Gay Heaven Is A Dance Floor but I Can't Relax by Charles Theonia

In this book, poetic citation assumes the form of crossgenerational conversation between queer and trans artists and writers. The poems' methodologies and forms are promiscuous (meaning that they make contact with a variety of sources, not limited to pop songs, paintings, a sexological study, and AIDS activist agitprop), variable in their structure, and invested in intergenerational queer connectivity. In responding to and incorporating language and images from works across disciplines including painting, photography, music, dance, political actions, and experimental translation, these poems are movements of conversation with the queer and trans artists, writers, and activists who have set the conditions for charles theonia's living.
CHARLES THEONIA is a poet and teacher from Brooklyn, NY. Their poems have appeared in You Have Ripped Your Dick Off, Trans Poets Will Burn Your House Down, FemmescapeS (with Julieta Salgado), Toe Good Poetry, The Artist Catalogue, and The Advocate. With Abigail Lloyd, they co-curate __4__, a series presenting queer and trans words and performance. They once broke up a fight at a Mariah Carey concert on New Years Eve as the diva descended from the ceiling in a glittering sleigh. Which One Is The Bridge is their first book.
