The German Great Escape by Peter Phillips

Revealing a largely unknown and remarkable prison escape of the Second World War, this historical recount examines the event that took place on Island Farm, a small patch of land in south Wales. In March 1945, this island became the scene of the largest prisoner-of-war escape in Europe when over seventy German prisoners tunnelled to freedom. In addition to prisoners of war, the escapees included numerous high-ranking German and Nazi figures awaiting trial at Nuremburg.
Gerhard Bosch is Professor of Sociology at the University of Duisburg as well as being Vice President of the Institute for Work and Technology. He is an expert on labor markets and has published several books in German, English and French. He has been adviser for the EU, the ILO and the OECD.
