Hemmo Suur (geboren 22. Mü¾†”¼rz 1781 in Emden, gestorben 12. August 1845 in Norden). Nach seinem Studium der Jurisprudenz in Erlangen kehrte er nach Ostfriesland zurü¾˜¶˜¼ck und trat in den Staatsdienst ein; von 1817 bis 1827 als Amtmann in Esens, ab Oktober 1827 in Norden. Er gilt als Pionier in der wissenschaftlichen Erforschung der mittelalterlichen Kirchen- und Klostergeschichte Ostfrieslands.
