Takao Saito was commissioned to produce the official manga adaptations of Ian Fleming's original novels in 1965, an experience that he credits with preparing him for his own creation, Golgo 13. Saito, a long-time publisher and artist, founded his own production firm in 1960, which grew into Leed Co by 1974. Inc., which continues to publish its own line of comics, books, and current-interest publications today.
