Grenada Ghost by Lloyd Hollis Crooks

Grenada Ghost is a murder mystery. It speaks of America bombing the island of Grenada during the Reagan Administration, and how America's invasion divides the people of Grenada - some with a vengeance to anything American. The novel depicts the kindness, family bonding, struggles, fortunes, politics, humor, and misdeeds of Caribbean people scattered throughout the Diaspora. Lyle Gordon, a native of Trinidad and Tobago, translates the concise imagery of the Caribbean tongue to Constance Wagner, the American reporter, when they dance in the Labor Day Carnival band in Brooklyn. A member of the Grenada Ghost carnival band dances for a prize with murder on the mind. Tidbits of our lives on the American stage come to the fore in Grenada Ghost, and the foibles and hypocrisy of polite societies are rampant in Lloyd Hollis Crooks's controversial work.
Lloyd Hollis Crooks is the author of Grenada Ghost; Ice and Eyes in the Sun-True Love Comes Late, Sometimes; Peeping Through the Keyhole; Blood on the Blade and Sister, Because of You. Crooks was a civil servant who covered sensitive national and international conferences in the Office of the Prime Minister in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago during the Eric Williams Administration. To name one conference: The United States of America and Trinidad and Tobago Leased Bases Agreement. Crooks was also a court reporter and a Parliament reporter. In New York, he was a partner's secretary in a Wall Street law firm. He lives in Brooklyn, New York, and he lectured at five CUNY colleges.
